Cub Scouting's volunteer leaders work with boys and their families to improve their communities by enriching the lives of the families who live there. Cub Scout leaders support the family. They take an active part in helping to strengthen families and their boys by providing a fun-filled, worthwhile program that teaches values. Who are Cub Scout leaders? You! It's difficult to imagine sometimes, but its true nonetheless. There is no terrific government-trained cadre of Cub Scout leaders; we're all just parents like you who have a vested interest in the success of our sons. Cub Scout leaders are brave and selfless characters like you, who volunteer their time to make the pack run, and learn a lot about themselves along the way. Don't think for one minute you're on your own! We have an excellent, yet lightweight training program that will provide what you need, and when you're ready for more, we'll give it to you. There are many excellent online resources available, in addition to brief yet informative classroom instruction. New Leader Brochures This series of brochures was designed to provide an at-a-glance orientation for new Cub Scout leaders. Those are just a few examples of the many, many resources available to Cub Scout leaders. There are printed materials, online materials, and of course, training. The training takes place partially online (see the "Leader Training" section on this website), and partially in a classroom setting, where you'll have the opportunity to have all of your questions answered. Further, our pack already has seasoned veterans who have lots of knowledge and will help to get you started, and keep you going. All leaders in our pack are expected to be 100% trained within the first year, as trained leaders provides for the best experience for the boys (and everyone else!) |
